WARPED FLORES 6 x 6 design, painting & sourcing found objects/materials

WARPED FLORES was a project I completed while studying art at SJSU, with the objective of learning a new skill. My original plan was to make my own tiles, but I opted for a more sustainable approach and repurposed discarded tiles from a junkyard for the project. The design of the project was inspired by Salvador Dalí's surrealistic approach to real-life objects, which led me to incorporate abstracted flowers. After creating the design in Photoshop, I proceeded to hand-paint each tile using a combination of acrylic paints and oil pastels to achieve an extra textured look.

TIME CAPSULE MUERTOS ALTAR 18 x 14 creating & sourcing found objects/materials

The MUERTOS ALTAR was a project I undertook during my art studies at SJSU, with the objective of creating a time capsule of an idea using found objects. The project was heavily inspired by "Dia De Los Muertos", Mexican culture, and religious practices. My aim was to create a unique take on the traditional altar, which typically features bright and fun colors. I chose to go for a darker and more mysterious aesthetic, playing with different sizes, textures, and mediums to create a visually striking composition.

GAUDI UMBRELLA 20 x 15 creating & sourcing found objects/materials

For GAUDI UMBRELLA, I utilized various materials to create a unique art piece. To start, I constructed a giant wire cross and covered it with thousands of strands of yarn. For the stand, I used wood and incorporated cross objects, wooden beads, pearls, and rhinestones to add texture and dimension. To create the umbrella portion of the piece, I used a round metal ring as the base structure, and then wired in the body of the umbrella. From there, I shaped and formed each sleeve of the umbrella, covering them with a glittery black lace material for added visual interest.
